(This is a test of the Emergency Alert System daily posting.)

I hit Walmart and Price Chopper while I was downtown yesterday. (The Walmart stop was to get a different wrist brace to try as the one I purchased previously I think would work better while I’m actually using my laptop rather than sleeping.) I hit Stewart’s (for gas and milk) and the library (to return a book) on the way home.

I did two loads of laundry, a load in the dishwasher, and paid a bill online. I baked chicken for the dogs' meals and made corned beef for supper. (It was awful. The corn beef tasted odd – enough that Pip was okay with me tossing the leftovers because he didn’t want to eat any more of it – and even the boiled potatoes went funky. The potato came off the skin and turned to mush, basically. I have no idea what happened.

Fun stuff! I watched the current ep of Leverage: Redemption and some recorded HGTV programs, took a nap (I’m blaming the weather for how many naps I’ve had to take lately), and read some fanfic. I also talked to my mom on the phone before my shower. (We generally talk every night, just telling each other about our days, no matter how little we did or how boring they were. *g*)

Temps started out at 42.3(F) and reached 53.8. It rained all day, though it was mostly drizzles and sprinkles. Still enough to make it impossible to do anything. Plus the overcast sky is soooo depressing.

Will today be better? As the Magic-8 Ball says, Don't count on it.

ETA: It was my niece L's birthday! She turned 35.

Last Friday: I hit Price Chopper while I was downtown. I did three loads of laundry and changed kitty litter. I watched current eps of 9-1-1 and Leverage: Redemption, and read more in a book. Temps started out at 61.0(F) and reached 89.1. There was so much sun! The thunderstorms that were supposed to roll in about 1pm held off until after 9pm.

What I Plan to Read Next: Another library book or more Murderbot.

Book 28 of 2025: Brandy & Bullets (A Murder, She Wrote Mystery) (Donald Bain)

I enjoyed this book more than the others. Perhaps because it took place in Cabot Cove? spoilers )

This book is the best of the bunch so far, but I'm not sure if that's because the author is becoming more comfortable writing them or because it took place in Cabot Cove, as I mentioned. I'm giving it four hearts.

♥♥♥♥

Book 29 of 2025: And Justice There is None (A Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James Mystery) (Deborah Crombie)

I really enjoyed this book. spoilers )

I think this series is getting better and better; I'm giving this book five hearts.

♥♥♥♥♥

Book 30 of 2025: All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries) (Martha Wells)

♥♥♥♥♥

Book 31 of 2025: Artificial Condition (The Murderbot Diaries) (Martha Wells)

I didn't have to read this book to start the tv series, but I couldn't resist seeing what Murderbot would do next. I liked it a lot. spoilers )

I look forward to seeing what Murderbot does next. I'm giving this novella five hearts.

♥♥♥♥♥

Book 32 of 2025: The Dragon Tamer (Megan Derr)

This was a cute little novella. spoilers )

Resident Alien is back for season 4! I was afraid that it had been quietly cancelled because I heard nothing about it, but apparently it was merely moved to USA, but then they decided to air it on both SyFy and USA? It's coming Friday, June 6, 11pm EST. (Not sure why 11pm. o_O) Click the link for more info and to check out the trailer.

Last Friday: I had an appointment with my surgeon in the afternoon (which I talk about here). I hit Price Chopper and Agway (for dog treats) while I was downtown and Stewart’s (for milk and gas) on the way home. I did a load of laundry and did a load in the dishwasher. I watched the current ep of 9-1-1 and read fanfic. Temps started out at 46.4(F) and reached 50.2. Guess what! It rained! All day today. Surprise. And not on and off, not scattered showers, but all frelling day. Constantly.

A while ago I asked my doctor about numbness in the tips of my fingers. (At that time, index finger and sometimes thumb.) He immediately said it was carpal tunnel and suggested I wear a brace to bed. I did not do that. But I did have both my massage therapist and chiropractor do things to my wrist to keep the nerve from being pinched.

FF to this past winter when the numbness got worse (in that it spread to both hands and seven out of ten digits (three on one hand, four on the other)). I spoke to my b-i-l, who has to wear braces to bed (he said that it took him several tries to find one that worked best for him and to get a 'glove' type brace). I also spoke to my PCP yesterday. He showed me one they had in storage (but said it would probably cost an arm and a leg, plus I didn't need one that went up my forearm so far) and suggested that I ~not order it online so I can try it on before I purchase it.

If any of you have any experience with this sort of thing and can give me some advice I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

I have received my [community profile] intoabar assignment. It made me smile on the one hand because it reminded me of a previous prompt and another of my own fic that I recently re-read. OTOH, the story idea I came up with was Pretty Dark (like, MCD dark), which isn't normally my thing. I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and write it to get it out of my head, write it and use it, or just try to think of something else.

The assignment is: Jessica Fletcher goes into a bar and meets... Allison Argent (Teen Wolf)!
What I Just Finished Reading: Since last Wednesday I have read/finished reading: A Finer End (A Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James Mystery) by Deborah Crombie, Rum & Razors (A Murder, She Wrote Mystery) by Donald Bain and Bonded in Death (In Death Series) by J.D. Robb.

What I am Currently Reading: Brandy & Bullets (A Murder, She Wrote Mystery) by Donald Bain

What I Plan to Read Next: I have the second Clare Ferguson book out from the library.

Book 25 of 2025: A Finer End (A Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James Mystery) (Deborah Crombie)

This book was really good! I can't think of a single thing I didn't enjoy about it. spoilers )

This book so good. Soooo good. I'm giving it five hearts.

♥♥♥♥♥

Book 26 of 2025: Rum & Razors (A Murder, She Wrote Mystery) (Donald Bain)

I wonder if the titles will continue to get more stupid as the series goes on? And if they'll ever stop this format. The mystery itself was pretty good, though there were some instances of getting character facts wrong and a possible inconsistency that made me think too hard about whether I could make it make sense. spoilers )

The books are getting better, but still not great. I'll continue reading because I want to know what details about Jessica's life come from the books. I'm giving this one four hearts.

♥♥♥♥

Book 27 of 2025: Bonded in Death (In Death Series) (J.D. Robb)

This book was so good! One of my favorites. Riding along as Eve solved the case was interesting, but it was spoilers )

I enjoyed this book hard! I'm giving it five hearts.

I had a follow-up appointment with my surgeon on Friday. The bone is healing well, but is not completely healed. The good news is that I'm out of the boot and back into a walking shoe. (She said I could remain in the boot if I wanted to, but I told her if she wanted me in a boot I’d need a new one because I somehow broke this one. o_O) Ace bandage has been replaced with a compression sock, which is nice. (I had to keep re-wrapping the ace bandage because it would come loose when I took off my sock.)

In best news, the wounds themselves are completely healed and I can get my foot wet, even submerge it in water!! I asked if I could start going on short walks (the park is just shy of 1/4 mile), but was told no, to wait until I'm in a sneaker, which will be two more weeks. *sigh*

In conclusion, things are going well, but I can’t wait to be able to wear regular shoes again!

(I have one final visit in three weeks.)
